Role of Agriculture in Obesity

 //
.Since invention of agriculture men had been eating grains for past 10000 yrs as per paleo . But only in past 50 to 100 yrs we see problems like obesity HT diabetes cardiac peoblems on the rise.
//

It is because

We started Building Dams and Use modern Agriculture only is the last 50 years

before that
We used to have famines

When we have famines, where is the chance to become obese

//The reasons I think that resulted in increase in these problems are
1.Availability of much refined high carb foods like potato maida polished rice, sugar , sweets .
2.Lack of exercise -Definite
3.High carb junk foods and snacks
4.Stress
5.Oils -Refined and trans fats
6.Reduced infectious diseases -( I guess there is a link )//

Agreed

In addition to all these, you have Primary Insulin Resistance !

//For eg my grandmother lived up to 98 yrs and another grandmother is still active at 90. Most of our grandies must be like that. Carbohydrate was their main part of diet.//

They don't have primary Insulin Resistance

//
Ramanujam Govindan Why did modern men develop insulin resitance

As an aberration . . . .

It is just like how man developed all other diseases like Sickle Cell Anemia, haemophilia, Duchenne, Downs, Porphyria

The question is not How Modern Man Developed Insulin Resistance

The question is how Insulin Resistance is more in TN

The Answer is : Famines were more in TN

Take Sickle Cell Anemia and Malaria

Sickle Cell Anemia is a disease which reduces Life Span
But
In Areas where Malaria is endemic, Sickle Cell Anemia is high

Why

because
Sickle Cell Anemia Offers protection against Malaria

So
After an Malaria Episode
The chance of a person with Sickle Cell Anemia being dead is LESS than a person without Sickle Cell Anemia

In other words
Frequent Attacks of Malaria Increase the number of peoples with Sickle cell in that Community

Primary Insulin Resistance acts by Storing More Energy

So

Those People will have fat reserves

During Famine, people with primary insulin Resistance will have more chance of surviving the famine

Once they survive famine, they will beget children

That is the reason why Primary Insulin Resistance is very high in TN

//Ramanujam Govindan There must have been famines since human evolution. Why men develop insulin rest only now.//

Primary Insulin Resistance was there for long
But
When you have famines, that does not translate into obesity

Because following famine, the fat reserves will be used

Since we do not have Famines for five decades
The hidden Insulin Resistance is now coming out in Open

When you artificially create a "CARB FAMINE" with Paleo, the Insulin Resistance hides

//
//There must have been famines since human evolution. Why men develop insulin rest only now.//??? Less infections ? More availability of food?
//

Sustained availability of food
Noon Meals

When was the last time you have seen a Marasmus or Kwashiorkor in TN
